 History

Sudur Pashchimanchal Academy started in 2056 B.S with 57 students and a rented space in Trinagar Higher Secondary School. Today, Sudur Pashchimanchal Academy has evolved into an academic organization which has been successfully running two major educational institutions of Far-western region which are Sudur Pashchimanchal Higher Secondary School and Sudur Pashchimanchal Campus. Sudur Pashchimanchal Academy has been a pioneer in the field of education in this region. Firstly, it introduced +2 program for the first time in whole of the Seti Zone. LUMBINI BUDDHIST COLLAGE

History

The first World Buddhist Summit held in Lumbini from 30th November to 2nd December,1998 proposed to establish a Buddhist university in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, to impart standard education on Buddhist Philosophy, Literature and Culture, and the Lumbini Declaration, issued at the conclusion of the Summit, requested the Nepal government to take immediate action in this direction. Accordingly, the Lumbini Development Trust constituted a seven-member Preparatory Committee with Prof. Tulasi Ram Vaidya as convener and Ven. Sudarshan Mahasthavir, Ngawang Hoser Lama, Pt. Badri Ratna Bajracharya, Prof. Mohan Prasad Lohani, Prof. Tri Ratna Manandhar and Mr. Min Bahadur Shakya as members. Finally, on 14th Marga 2061 B.S. (29th November 2004), Lumbini Buddhist University was formally established with the promulgation of an Ordinance. Later in 2006, the Parliament approved the Ordinance with modifi cations as Lumbini Buddhist University Act (Lumbini Bauddha Vishwavidyalaya Ain 2063). Following the People's Movement of 2006 (2062 - 63 B.S) the Legislative assembly Adopted an Act relating to the establishmentn of LBU, Lumbini in 2006 ( 2063 B.S).

The Act provides for the Prime Minister of Nepal as Chancllor of LBU and the Minister of Education, Nepal as Pro - Chancellor. The University's Vice Chancellor acts as Chief Executive who is assisted by the Registrar in financial and general adinistration and the Dean in academic programmes.

Appointment of the VC, Registrar and Dean

After the promulgation of the Lumbini University Ordinance, the government of Nepal appointed Prof. Tulasi Ram Vaidya as the fi rst Vice Chancellor on 4 August 2005. Similarly, Mr. Kedar Shakya was appointed as the Registrar on 31st August 2005. Upon the resignation of the latter, Prof. Khadga Man Shrestha succeeded him as the Registrar on 26th November 2007. As the university started working, Prof. Shanker Th apa of Central Department of History, Tribhuvan University was appointed as the Dean of LBU on 6th February 2009. Th enafter, University Council, Executive Council and the Academic Council were also constituted under the Act. With the implementation of Lumbini Bauddha Vishwavidyalaya Niyam -2067 (Lumbini Buddhist University Rules - 2010), a Research Committee was formed in July 2010 to regulate research programmes conducted by the university.
After the retirement of the fi rst Vice Chancellor, a selection committee was formed by the Chancellor to recommend a new VC for appointment. Consequently, Prof. Tri Ratna Manandhar, former Professor of History, Tribhuvan University, was appointed the second Vice Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University. Prof. Manandhar was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tribhuvan University and also worked in various capacities including a member of the National Curriculum Council, and also a member of the Royal Nepal Academy (Prajna Sabha). Prof. Manandhar joined the University as the Vice Chancellor on 12th March 2010.

E-Libraries and Journals
JBIT has access to e-journals and databases of INDEST, ASME, IEEE, and ACM, articles, books, and other on line reference mateirals. JBIT libraries have access to 129 web-based and 110 video cources, prepared by the faculty.

Laboratories:
JBIT has well-equipped laboratories for Engineering Management and computer  application Streams. The laboratories have latest gadgets, instruments and devices, where  students gain practical experience.

Sports Facilities:
Understanding the importance of holistic development of the students we provide various sports facilities to the students and given them a  chance to choose from a wide range of sports via football, table tennis, basket ball, volley ball, cricket, badminton, etc.

Canteen:
The canteen serve delicious, healthy and hygienic food at reasonable rates. JBIT provides good quality fast and beverages at nominal prices.

Transport:
The institution provides transport facility to its day scholar  as well as to the students living in off-campus hostels on nominal Charges through its self owns buses. The buses ply on different routes of the city. This facilities also contributes to inculcating an elements of punctuality among the students.

Mobile ATM Facility
To facilitate the banking facility for the students as well as faculty staff and other college family members, we have on cell mobile van ATM facility in the college premises. There are also branches of Punjab National and state Bank of India about a few minutes’s walk from the campus.

Our confidence in providing quality education originates from engaging highly  experienced  faculty who are alumni or faculty of other prominent institutions. A parts from these faculty preminent academicians, corporate professionals are also invited to provide a comprehensive and board vision to the students and faculty.

We encourage our students to develop curiosity towards the world around them in every aspect.
 We regularly conduct guest lectures for initiating value additional to our students understanding of the complex corporate environment, which helps them in their endearvor to achieve heights  in industry.

Personality Development:
The personality Development Center is oriented towards developing students into exceptional communicators, negotiators and eventually leaders. Irrespective of the industry chosen for work, the basic skills required to do the job in a professional environment stay the same, that’s why it is important for students to learn, excel and home communication and leadership skills with a large pool of applicants with the same degrees, companies are looking for ways to differentiate “employable graduates” from “ work in progress students.

The main goal of the personality development center is to provide students with a cohesive and integrated personality Development Program which;

1.Improves communication and leadership skills of the students.
2.Complements the academic program and the student’s long-term career objectives.
3.Is innovative and of the highest quality possible.
4.Is diverse and flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the marketplace.
5.Is succesful and continuesly montired for improvements.

      Technical Counceling Cell:
The cell has been created with the aim of giving food for thought to the students. This cell has a student committee which  is guide by our senior and exprienced faculty members. Workshops and technical seminars are conducted under this cell. This cell also provides a platfrom to the students to test their talents, creativity/innovation by organizing quizzes and various competitions.
     Training and Development Activities for the students
In house Training
The in house training program world help the students in acquiring various skills required to lead a contended and successful life.A person can be successful only if he  knows the problem solving techniques at works place. Working collaboratively with others, communicate effectively and rational thinking. The institutes invite  faculty members from institutions of higher learning and industry  for providing quality education within house campus training program for ensuring its effectiveness, at the end of the program feedback must be taken and analysed so that the shortcomings can be brought about. Motivates  students to go for higher studies and guiding them to take competitive exams such as CAT, GATE, TOEFL, GRE, and GMAT AND LETS.

Summer Intership Programs/Industrial Training
 The main purpose of the interships, which make up a significant part of our program, is to prepare our students for the work life when they graduate.


Our students have to complete two interships. The first one is the summer intership, which should be done in the summer after the second year of education. The minimum length of the summer interships is 45 workdays. During their summer and industry interships, JBIT students work  at reputable institutions and they : get to know the IT industry as an insider, gain real life work experience before graduation, apply what they have learned at school in the work life, observe new trends in their fields, and take their first steps for a successful career. Some of our students receive offers to continue as part time employees after finishing their interships, because of their impressive perfomance during the interships. As a result almost half of our students secure employment even before graduation.


Clubs
Endeavour: Hobbies Club
Indoor club is a major center of attraction especially during cricket matches with the perfect ambience and sound system which makes watching cricket matches a really wonderful experience. A rink just outside the students club an ideal place for celebration of various festival during college fest.

Entrepreneurship Club:
The Entrepreneurship Club at JBIT with the vision to create a gelling point for aspiring entrepreneurs the institute.
The college regularly hosts  guest lectures by  distinguished personalities from the industry and academic, in addition to organizing various business and marketing competitions round the year.

Abhivyaki: The Cultural Activity Club
This section has been bringing the range of melodies from Indian classical to western hard rock. It is the section which has been staging play of unbeatable standard since its inception and is know for its discipline and order painting & Art Exhibition.

TeachAakriti: The Technical Club
JBIT is the premier organization for technology in education, “Providing leadership and service to improve teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in education.” The major objective of JBIT is to assists and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.

Corporate Social Responsibility Club
Corporate Social Responsibility has always been an integral part of E-max vision. In a view to contribute its share towards the society, the management of has undertaken several initiatives towards the benefits of the society at large such as Blood Donation Campus, Tree plantation Drives & Road Safety Campaigns.

Corporate Resource Center
The Corporate Resource Center is working for placement of students and fulfilling the Mission & Vision of the Institute. CRC aims to create a platform where Students and Industry can come together and explore the opportunities for employment.

In particular, the Center aims at bridging the gap between the academia and corporate by focusing on producing highly competent and  Industry ready professional. It has the task to organize campus interviews for student placement and training and also organizes corporate guest lectures and industry interaction. CRC also undertakes various academic and non academic initiatives so that students are well equipped to meet varied industry requirements. The CRC also networks with the institutions alumni for creating more career opportunities. Likewise, it  also aims to support alumni by creating and switches for them, through it vast network of industry contacts.

It is also involved in brand building activities for the group. Besides its core function of Placement and internships for the students, the CRC is engaged in a host of support functions, meant to bring about continuous improvement in student activities.

Excellent past placement record:-
 Doe to our sincere efforts our last batch passed our in (2015-2015) has been record placements in the region in big brands.  Over 83% students are successfully placed in the companies of repute. Total 117 companies visited the campus for placements in last one year.

Training and placement Cell
 Training and placement Cell share great responsibility towards the students future. The institute has provided complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the department. Training activities are organized throughout the year for preparing the prospective students for the campus selection programs. This department keeps on inviting various industries and reputed firms for campus recruitment.
